Bob Mainey, 1937-2003
Operations Coordinator, 1999-2003

South Shore Security remembers Robert “Bob” Henry Mainey, who passed away suddenly on March 24, 2003. Bob started his career with South Shore Security as a Security Officer in 1996. In 1999, Bob was promoted to Operations Coordinator in the company’s Quincy headquarters. In this position, he handled a variety of duties related to South Shore Security’s entire team of officers and site supervisors, including scheduling, payroll and human resource management. He also served as an intermediary between office staff and on-site personnel. Additionally, Bob’s career in alarm systems provided valuable expertise that he utilized in his work with South Shore Security.

Bob’s life was punctuated with great accomplishments and notable instances of service to country, family and community. While an Air Force sergeant, he attended Yale University as a language specialist. He was accepted into Officer Candidate School as a navigator for transport aircraft and served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force as a captain in 1971.

Bob was the definition of a true “family man.” He owned and operated OL-Bee Ceramics in Bourne with his wife, Olive, during the 1970s. In 1980, he joined the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) with his son Jeffrey and was soon accompanied by Olive, their son, Robert and daughter, Meghan. Bob ended his CAP career as a lieutenant colonel. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, camping and family gatherings.

Longtime Bourne residents, Bob and his wife have seven children: Jeffrey; Meghan; Robert; Bryant; Gregory; William and Kaylynn. South Shore Security mourns the loss of Bob Mainey, an outstanding employee and great friend.
