April 2003 Raylean Bledsoe has been a South Shore Security employee for four years and currently serves as Site Supervisor at the Mirant Power Plant in Cambridge, MA. Raylean has worked at this facility since first beginning her career in security 16 years ago. A 13-year veteran in the security industry, Raylean was the obvious choice for the position when South Shore Security acquired the account in 1998. Today, Raylean oversees the staff of security officers who provide the plant with 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week. The site, which employs more than 40 people, has been a hotbed of activity since its identity switch from CommElectric to Mirant began two-and-a-half years ago with a reconstruction of the plant. This ongoing project brings scores of people through the site each day, including contractors, construction workers and delivery personnel. Raylean has established great relationships with all of these people, with her hospitable demeanor and thorough knowledge of the site. “I’ve been stationed at this site for many years and I have gotten to know everybody here,” she explained. “The South Shore Security staff is also a great group of people. It is a real pleasure to work for this company.” A former office worker, Raylean sought a change of pace that would offer more variety and interaction, while still utilizing her outstanding organizational skills. Since beginning work as a security officer, Raylean has met the special challenges of a career in security. During a typical day, Raylean logs workers in and out of the site, answers visitor inquiries, accepts and tracks all shipments and of course, provides valuable communication to clients and South Shore Security management. In fact, the company’s “minuteman” logo is a perfect symbol for Raylean, as she is on-call and ready to fill in whenever needed. Raylean places a great emphasis on community, both in her career and her personal life. A Cambridge native and resident, Raylean lives with her mother, Gwendolyn Frances, and has a son,
Corey. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies and out to eat with her friends and her grandson, Jalen. Many thanks to Raylean for her friendly style and fine work! |
